The leaves were sprouting from the tired, sleeping trees and a layer of dust was soon to be removed by a soft rain storm grumbling in the distance. A little creature was pacing around a centered area, four trees framed an open grass patch with two adorable mushrooms placed right in the middle. It seemed so perfect.
The little creature- the size of a 20 year old woman dug into her side and plucked out a seed. Her body was covered in them, leaves, twigs, seeds. Her hair might even be vines- if you looked close enough.
Her tiny fingers gripped the small seed as she studied it with great care. It was purple in color, had a little sprout that split up the middle to the top with two leaves springing to life above it. Her eyes sparkled as she watched it, and a smile grew on her lips.
She dug a hole with her free hand about three inches thick and dropped the little seed in. Covering it carefully and patting the soil to pack it in a little, she stood back to look at it.
Drops of rain started to touch her face, shoulders and arms and she glances up as the rain starts to fall more steadily.
Ummi, the little Treekin of only 200 years old smiles again. As the rain falls, the seed begins to sprout more already. A sign that she had picked the right place for her first home. In one week this seedling, with her own flesh and blood will grow to be a giant tree; much like the yews and the oaks that stand in this forest. But it will be different- it will be magic. It will be connected.
A Treekin only produces one special seed every 200 years for their homes. Though, they hope they only need to use their very first seed. The older the Treehome, the more secure.
